Extra machines for parts donors are a good thing to have when the original machines are no longer made and new parts are unobtanium.

About 10 years ago I bought a second Ampex 354 for that reason, never mind one reel motor's spindle is woefully bent, and the deck had originally been custom made to run on 120 volts, 50 Hz, 3 3/4--7 1/2 ips. And the record and repro heads in its 3-head stack are bad. Got it cheap enough though!
