Picked up a case holder with 36 single use cassettes. Most are Maxell XL II (oval window) and XL II-S but there are eight Maxell Metal Capsule 50's (white). Very nicely recorded classic rock: Beatles, Stones, Creedence, Hendrix, BeeGees (okay a couple klinkers*sarc*) but for $3 I won't complain. Listened to a couple and he did a real nice job. He was a machinist so I guess he paid real close attention.

That's a sweet deal. Good score.

Bought a couple boxes of '85-'88 series (according to Matt's info) XL-II several months ago at an estate sale. Seller said they were blank but apparently the lady liked to listen to Dr. David Viscott on talk radio. On closer exam I saw the erased pencil. The price was right though IIRC. I have more than enough tape to use in a lifetime.

I've got several hundred gently used tapes. Some are keepers, like the XLII-S's I got full of Grateful Dead music. Some are used for parts and to repair better tapes. And some are just there 'cause a guy can't pass up a good deal, eh .....

Same here; Maxell, TDK, etc. I even have several MA TDK DBX tapes of which I have no chance to hear what they truely sound like. *fit*

My point is that with all the nice used tape I have to record over I'll never get to the new stuff. I bought a pile that included two TDK MA-R90's. One was used. Sounds like he used it with a portable unit to record a business meeting*eyepop*.
