Can someone point me toward a replacement adapter for my WMD-6C? I can't find one on the Sony site and there doesnt seem to be any of the manual recommended AC-D4HG adapters around any more. Thanks for your help!

I had the same problem when I got my WMD6C. I spent a *lot* of time trying to locate a compatible power supply on the internet. I found a lot of cheap 6v units that appeared to be unregulated and I wanted a regulated supply, so I never tried any of them.
I posted a request on stereo2go.com and luckily found someone in Europe that had a model AC-9W laying around. It works fine. You might join stereo2go and post a request there, too. Hope you find one. *hope*

Is it the same as WM-D6C?
If so, I'm just using a regular multiple voltage AC adapter and just set it to either 6V or 4.5V. The adapter is unregulated.

Whatever you do make sure the polarity is correct! The WMD-6C has positive on the sleve and negative in the middle, but don't take my word for it. I have a bricked one here that I bought to try to fix. Most likely connected with wrong polarity (or overvoltage, or both).

Yea, just like Marantz PMD-430. I suppose it would be possible to solder in a diode to prevent problems from reversed polarity. I should look into it the next time I have to open the D6C (when the fact that it still plays Dolby B tapes a bit wrong annoys me enough).

I agree that polarity is a top issue. No reverse polarity protection in the WMD6C... I found that a lot of more modern 6v power bricks are the wrong polarity.. be careful!

If you can find the AC-9W, it will be fine. I think it is easier to find than the original.
Regulated works better. I have a unregulated and it introuduces slight humming in the unit in record.

It introduuced a hum so I stopped using it.It was regulated. The Battery life is so long on these units, that you really dont need one. Jim

AC-9W does not introuduce any hum in all of my WM-D6Cs... Strange it did with yours. Perhaps it is not working correctly.

Not to derail this thread but can any recommend an adapter for my Sony TC D5m, I know they made one AC D4l but it is overpriced and seems to only be in Japan and the the car one is a myth by now.
