This has to be the most supported brand of tape machine out there. I can't believe it!
I have a V-970X. It's been starting to drift a bit due to worn pinch rollers. I figured it would be a long shot for a 1989 cassette deck, but I pulled out my service manual and looked up the part numbers.
Spoke with Gary at Teac Parts. He was very helpful! The pinch rollers were less than $15 each...in stock! I can't even believe it! I asked him how many he had...he said plenty. He said all of their good cassette decks up to and including the Esoteric use the same pinch rollers, so when they run out they'll make some more. I love it!
They even have new heads in stock...cheap!

This is why - despite there maybe being better pro decks to be had for the same money - I decided on a TEAC. Just don't want to paint myself into a corner as far as parts go. (no gaurantee the parts willl be there - but hey, the odds are better than other manufacturer's, right?)

Agreed.
Teac did not get the reputation that they still have (and get to be the last man standing) by building junk.
And here we are nearly two decades after production ceased and they still support them-albeit on a limited basis with parts and service.
Those points are not lost on me.

Hello Matt,
As of Last Tuesday when my last job ran out I am back in the full time business of Radio support when called and Tape deck repair. So to add to the idea that these decks are supported and can still be worked on by factory trained people, I submit myself and of course Russ Bachmann in New Jersey as proof that Teac service still goes on. Leon also in Montreal.
In fact without advertising anything, all kinds of tape deck repairs seem to be coming my way. Wow, I hope it keeps up.
I will also be selling out- as soon as I go through them, a number of Otari MX-5050 decks that were obtained from Radio Stations so those once I know all is working will be available. I will post more as they come available.

Well Sam, if I install my new pinch rollers and am still having problems...
What are your rates? This cassette deck shouldn't be too expensive to ship. It's my V-970X.
