...the 8 track tape is too tight and the player won't pull the tape out of the middle od the reel?
The little thingy just sit and spins on the tape in one spot. *dammit*I know it's not good. Reckon how a man might go about fixin' the tape?

Your best bet, if you don't feel comfortable opening the tape, is to cut the tape, pull out a foot or two from the intake side (looking at the tape opening, the side with the pinch roller) splice the tape back together, then pull from the opposite side and the tape will wind itself back into the shell and should remove some of the tension.

Depending on the type of housing, you can open the tape and fix tension. It is tedious but it can be done. It's hard to explain so I will refer you to:

Yeah I opened 'er up just to see if seen something outta whack.
