Hi All, I recently picked up an Akai 4000DS, working perfectly, *reelspin**reelspin*but missing the capstan sleeve for hi speed play. Anyone out there know where to pick one of these up

Cheers
Steve

I can't remember but I bought a sleeve or different spindle for an Akai before I got it and when I received it the deck was in bad shape so the deck went back. Can you tell me where it goes I might have it.

Hi Larry, it slides over the capstan and is secured by a small nut. I have the nut, but no sleeve. I'll take some pics later to clarify

Thanks for your help *Hi5*

You will never guess what I found. An Akai GX-4000 bushing and cap. Man I had to tear this place apart. Now comes the communicating. LOL How much do you want to pay? PM me. Do you want a pic?

It's surprising how many 4000 series decks are out there without the capstan sleeves. If I still had access to a lathe and make a load! Now where's my micrometer gone!

Those are hard to find. I just looked thru 476 Akai items listed on Ebay.
None came up. Look on Ebay for a parts machine. Several of the 7" Akai use the same sleeve and cap nut.

Any price is cheap if you want a fully operational deck....*fit*

Hi Steve!
I remember having seen on a web site a company selling brand new Akai sleeves. Do a Google search.
And the price wasn't too crazy. But it's been a while since I've seen the site.
All the best,
