Did anyone have ever seen it or owned it?

I've never seen 7" metal Ampex reels either. Very cool! (Is that a Telefunken logo on that one reel though?) That Maxell UD 18-180 is a sight too--never seen one of those either, and am surprised it was around that late, given the box style.

Maxell 18-180 was the longest tape available by Maxell, 3600 feet in a 7" reel. I've some of these.
About the Telefunken reel, I think you are right, but will tell you for sure once they arrive.

I'm afraid to even touch going after any 7" reels. Because I know that if I do, it will send me barrelling head first down the slippery slope: If I buy one, I'm going to want 50. And then as many tapes to fill them with. And then a couple of 7" decks.
Wife would skin me alive. So I'll just stick with my stash of 10"s, most of which were acquired when I was still technically single.

I agree that you couldn't stop and buy just one or two, but you don't need a 7" deck. Most times, I play 7" reels in the X2000R too, not just in the 7" decks.

As compared to now, which is known as No-longer-Master-of-Your-Domain (like me)? :D
ps -- Reeler, if you decide to part with even a single Ampex 7" reel, please keep me in mind.

The reels arrived this past Monday but until this afternoon I didn't unpackaged them.
Here are some shots. I'll take better pics with the dck using both Ampex reels:
