well, statistically, the japanese tend to prefer excessive design in everything they do (as do i) whilst european and western countries have always tended to prefer minimalism. don't get me wrong; i don't care for this CDP either, as i DESPISE 1990's design ethics, especially the mid-mount VCR and CDP design that has been the standard for the last fifteen years...

especially since excessive handling will of course wear away the finish...
